One of my favourite things about writing this blog is coming across things that I genuinely think are brilliantly creative and yet don't take a massive bank balance or a lot of resources to achieve -just some imagination and willingness to put in the hours.
So I loved discovering Xavier Barrade’s 3D posters for rock band Dry The River. Xavier spent over 35 hours creating each 3d poster, hand cutting all the pieces and gluing them together.
The finished result is an ad campaign that sticks out (ha!) from the rest. The video of people's reactions to the posters is great too.
Radiandesign is a graphic design studio from France. They merge photo-manipulation, graphic design, logo and web design to create some pretty interesting work.
I absolutely love everything about this video campaign from Prada for their Spring/Summer 2011 collection.
A huge amount of it has to do with the fact I am a big fan of Ratatat and I feel the song choice 'Mirando' perfectly accompanies the jaunty movements created by the campaign models (KingaRajzak, ZuzannaBijoch, Arizona Muse, TatiCotliar & MariacarlaBoscono) which are further enhanced through brilliant editing techniques.
Overall this video conveys a huge amount of personality and fun for me and I had to watch it about three times one after the other.
I am loving this slightly tongue in cheek ad campaign for vintage clothing store Shock and Soul by Y&R. I might start checking the obituaries to keep ahead of what the most stylish donations to my local Oxfam might be. A fur coat never goes out of style.
When I was little all I wanted to do was make perfume adverts. I would love when it came upto Christmas because you would see all the fantastically luxurious and dreamlike ads come on TV and it would be like watching a mini film where everyone was gorgeous and lived inside a fairytale. Well, yeh! This is something a biiiiit like that. A new short film to promote Sony Ericsson's new phone Jalou in collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana directed by Cyril Guyot.
This video is pretty inspiring not only because of the concept of an entirely paper world, but because the makers, Mexico based Cru De Ladies, made the whole thing in only two weeks. Everything except the doors, shirts the bed and the chair was turned papery in post production.
This viral ad for the Nike IAM1 Journey Sportswear project is by London street artist INSA and was created over 7 days while he basically ran around east London, painting the 35 separate pieces, which form the basis of the animation.
Produced by Protein and documented by INSA's long time collaborator, photographer Ethel, each of the 35 hand painted pieces also form one of the centre pieces of INSAs major London solo show for 2009.
This animation will be de-constructed within the "Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places" show with behind-the-scenes processes alongside the original painted objects that make up the individual frames.
It's a pretty cool idea to use separate artworks in themselves together to make a stop-motion animation and even though the video is pretty short it's really all you need to get the idea.
The guys voice kills it at the end but this advert for Jay-Z's new album in which he recreates all his classic album covers is still pretty cool. It's a lot better than your average album promo.
Victoria Beckham's boobs make an appearance on the cover of October's issue of American Elle. I have also included her viral ad for her Victoria Beckham dresses. Not sure what make of it...yerrrr it's a'ight and all, I like that she kept it a bit mental (she is FASHION now yeh?) and didn't go really American with it, but it is kinda boring Becks -I think it might be her singing in the background too...
This Ad for Nike Dunks was created by Israel-based artist ELNA. Is uses live action sequences, involving three pairs of custom Nike Dunks, with stop animation and illustration, all set to music samples from Markey Funk referencing sneaker obsession. You can see more of the custom Dunks here.
Complex.com have just complied their version of the 10 best Nike Basketball TV ads ever. We don't really have that much advertising for Nike Basketball over here in England, seeing as everyone loves football so much. That is probably why these ads look so American (and SO 80's)Personally I think there have been better commercials released, but these are definitely the classics.

Just Cavalli’s latest Autumn-Winter campaign once again stars Kate Moss and another young model photographed by Mert and Marcus. I am loving the rich, berry tones and the lighting and Kate's face is never gonna look bad is it? But I don't really think the two models work together, Kate seems more mature and the whole thing weirds me out a bit. They just don't look like they would hang out in real life.
This is an extended version of “Today is a good Day” the new advert from Nike for the SB P-Rod 3, also featuring Eric Koston and Kobe Bryant. It just automatically put me in a good mood, I love it (but then I do generally just love anything from Nike SB) The skating fits perfectly around Ice Cube's classic tune.
UPDATE: I also just had to say that I have watched this four times now and I really do fancy Paul Rodriguez.
