Woofer -The New Twitter?

Everyone else seems to love Twitter a lot more than me. I just don't really see the point. Obviously the blog has a Twitter account which you can follow here, but apart from that I'm not obsessed like everyone else, I am more of a Facebook addict.

But it seems Twitter is now so big that people are parodying it with sites like Woofer. Woofer is exactly like Twitter in every way really (although they want you and your lawyers to know that it caries no affiliation whatsoever) apart from the fact that tweets (or woofs) must have 1,400 characters minimum. That is easier said than done. You can also type in anyone's username so you can update on behalf of whoever you want.

I think it's kinda pointless, but then I think that about Twitter so who knows...

This is a watch for people like me that are so addicted to the internet that it ruins their relationships and dictates the rest of their life. I'm not sure how proud I am of that so I don't think I'll be getting one but if you want a reminder to update your blog, Twitter or Facebook etc. then just look here.

The genocide in Darfur is a topic that -most people who know anything about it- feel really strongly about.

It is obvious that the lack of empathy and regard for human life is already so far beyond ridiculous and must be stopped.

So what can we do?

Twitter?

Well the way Twitter works is: by using the # symbol, a word is defined and set apart as a topic that people can automatically link to.

All statements also have to be in a 140 character limit. So HERE are 100 statements prepared for you , hashtag included, about Darfur that are under 140 characters.

Today is the day you can try and make a difference with just a copy and paste by tweeting as many of these messages as you can. Please repost them!

Space them out, come up with them on your own, tell your friends to... basically, make Darfur a topic. It's an easy way to make a change using the internet an bring attention to something that so desperately needs it.
