Hattie Newman - Artist

Hattie Newman is an illustrator and set maker working in London. Inspired by all things charming and strange, she makes three dimensional works from paper, card and other materials.

I love how she manages to create such painstakingly creative, fairytale scenarios -that draw you in and spark your imagination- from what is essentially just a sheet of card and a bit of Pritt Stick.

Paris, London, Barcelona and Beijing by Gustav Johansson

I have been desperate to live in Barcelona ever since I went inter-railing when I was 18 and this short video series directed by Gustav Johansson for Education First: Live the Language did nothing but encourage me.

The videos were shot in Paris, London, Barcelona and Beijing and are kind of cheesy at times but they feature some great typography work and manage to present a reasonably accurate portrayal of life in a different city.

If anyone in Barcelona needs a blogger let me know!

What The Average Woman Looks Like In Every Country

According to Faces Of Tomorrow and artist Mike Mike; this is what the average woman in every country looks like...although personally I think that should be what the average woman would look like if she was a total hottie and never ate crisps.

Mike Mike's project combines hundreds of photographs of the faces of women from various places, in an attempt to highlight the faces “average” features, country by country.

Ruben Ireland - Illustrator

London based illustrator Ruben Ireland has just updated his portfolio with some more stunningly eerie work and has recently been published in BlackBook Magazine.

His work used mixed media such as ink,acrylic, photographs, found materials and even dirty water which he collages, layers and paints in Photoshop.

Tim Walker, Lindsey Wixson & Nimue Smit for Mulberry S/S 2011

The brilliant Tim Walker photographed Lindsey Wixson and Nimue Smit for Mulberry’s Spring/Summer 2011 campaign. The shoot reflects the inspiration behind the new collection 'The Secret Garden' and was shot in Eglingham Hall, Northumberland.

With the 25th Anniversary of London Fashion Week getting ever closer(!) British Vogue goes all patriotic for their October 2009 issue. The amazing Mario Testino captures an all-English cast of models including Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Lily Donaldson and Stella Tennant for the editorial, 'Brilliantly British' which as well as taking us on a nostalgic tour of the punk and mod looks features some amazing couture and quintessentially British bowler hats and beefeaters.

Jacknife - Illustration & Posters

The blog has been a bit fashion heavy of late so I thought I would include some work from Jacknife, a poster company based in Bristol, England. I have admired their work for ages and lots of it has been displayed in some of my favourite bars and clubs. They specialise in gig, tour and promotional posters and have produced work for some amazing musicians including Queens Of The Stone Age, Gallows, The Noisettes, The Horrors and loads more.

All posters are screen-printed, signed and individually numbered making them unique and collectible items of affordable art. Their style is both consistent and unique, perfectly representing each band through both flawless illustration and concept...I mainly like the ones where the girls have their boobies out.

Mateusz Sypien, is an artist based in Leeds, United Kingdom. He really is a very talented graphic artist but his paper New Era Caps have just blown my mind. They are SO COOL. Now I am working my way up to having a whole paper outfit. There are loads more pics if you click his name above.
