Kerry Howell - Jewelry Design

London based jewellery designer Kerry Howell created a series of 5 striking necklaces for her graduate collection, nothing strange about that apart from these necklaces are made from HUMAN HAIR.

Each piece looking like a delicate strip of lace, the jewelry takes its inspiration from Damask wallpaper patterns and was expertly cut and woven using broken saw blades, with each necklace taking upto 60 hours to produce.

Aptly named 'Attraction/Aversion', the collection is designed to explore how people can feel contrasting emotions simultaneously. Whilst on the body, we adore our hair and spend a lot of time and money looking after it, but once it leaves our head we're suddenly revolted. Kerry's aim was to see if she could make discarded hair attractive once more.

Just make sure you take it off before you get in the bath, because you'd have a job getting that out of the plug-hole.

Elizabeth Barrett, Luke Edge and Hattie Newman for Station Magazine

This spread is actually about a year old now, but I think the prop styling is still pretty forward thinking.

I found it when researching Hattie Newman's work, but it originally appeared in London based indie magazine 'Station'.

Hattie made the props and the shoot was styled Elizabeth Barrett with photography from Luke Edge.

Hattie Newman - Artist

Hattie Newman is an illustrator and set maker working in London. Inspired by all things charming and strange, she makes three dimensional works from paper, card and other materials.

I love how she manages to create such painstakingly creative, fairytale scenarios -that draw you in and spark your imagination- from what is essentially just a sheet of card and a bit of Pritt Stick.

Paris, London, Barcelona and Beijing by Gustav Johansson

I have been desperate to live in Barcelona ever since I went inter-railing when I was 18 and this short video series directed by Gustav Johansson for Education First: Live the Language did nothing but encourage me.

The videos were shot in Paris, London, Barcelona and Beijing and are kind of cheesy at times but they feature some great typography work and manage to present a reasonably accurate portrayal of life in a different city.

What The Average Woman Looks Like In Every Country

According to Faces Of Tomorrow and artist Mike Mike; this is what the average woman in every country looks like...although personally I think that should be what the average woman would look like if she was a total hottie and never ate crisps.

Mike Mike's project combines hundreds of photographs of the faces of women from various places, in an attempt to highlight the faces “average” features, country by country.

Ruben Ireland - Illustrator

London based illustrator Ruben Ireland has just updated his portfolio with some more stunningly eerie work and has recently been published in BlackBook Magazine.

His work used mixed media such as ink,acrylic, photographs, found materials and even dirty water which he collages, layers and paints in Photoshop.

Jacob K - Stylist

Jacob K was born in Denmark but now works in London as a freelance fashion stylist. After moving to London, Jacob worked for Peter Jensen then went on to assist other stylists including Anna Cockburn and Olivier Rizzo, eventually styling independently for various international photographers including Benjamin Alexander Huseby the incredible Tim Walker. He is also a regular contributor to Italian and L'Uomo Vogues, Vogue Nippon, Dazed & Confused, Teen Vogue and Fantastic Man magazines.

Street Photography Competition

The International Street Photography Award is looking for the world’s best street photographer as part of the first annual London Street Photography Festival in 2011.

It is open to anyone in the world over 18 and entrants can submit five to eight of their best street photography images.

Photographs must be of a reasonably large file size and high quality, maximum size seven megabytes and must be in JPEG format. Entrants may crop a photo and perform minor colour corrections, but all other photo manipulation is forbidden. Copyright of the photos remains with the photographer.

Artist - Karen O'Leary

This is such a simple idea, that looks really cool. But is something most people with little to no patience (hello me) would manage to fuck up.

There is loads of art-crap being said about this work from artist Karen O'Leary in which she cuts out maps of New York, Paris and London to do with positive and negative space and it's significance. But I just think they look really cool. Like giant spidersweb/crazy spaceage doilys.
