Trim - Stop Motion Hair Growth

Petey Boy films his friend Tom Offer-Westort go from bald man to mountain man in 38 seconds. Apparently it only took 4.5 hours to film and 45 minutes sat around figuring out what to do. I don't believe them because the end result is far too good.

This video from The Naked and Famous for their new song 'The Sun' is directed by Joel Kefali & Campbell Hooper for Special Problems. It is full of colour and texture (and loads of boobs just sayin') The song is taken from the album ‘Passive Me, Aggressive You’

Wavy Gravy - Film

This is an example of a song choice really enhancing the effect of a viral video in my opinion.

In this case it is 'Mr. Little Jeans' cover of Arcade Fire’s 'The Suburbs'.

The video was shot at 59.94 frames/second then timed in Apple Motion using Optical flow, with no rotoscoping or masking. The slowest footage was slowed down to about 2% speed. So yeah, that's cool.

Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win - Spike Jonze For The Beastie Boys

First it was Michel Gondry back together with Bjork and now it is Spike Jonze directing for the Beastie Boys again!

This full length music video for 'Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win' featuring Santigold uses stop motion (and a few strategically placed hands) to parody films like True Lies and James Bond.

Bianca Chang

Here is a lovely video from Syney based paper artist Bianca Chang.

Her work is created by cutting with precision layer upon layer of sheets of paper. Oh Hai Dur steady hand.

I love Braids and was lucky enough to see them in my home town earlier this year. At first the video for 'Lammicken' directed by Mark Webber sent me into a sort of colour coma, but then I turned the song up really loud and I was all like 'woooo colour coma!'

Beyonce Knowles for Thierry Le Gouès, Ebon Heath & Complex Magazine August/September 2011

Beyonce is on the cover of this month's Complex Magazine shot by Thierry Le Gouès with an amazing typography cape created by Ebon Heath (check out his portfolio NOW). I want one.

Xavier Barrade for Dry the River

One of my favourite things about writing this blog is coming across things that I genuinely think are brilliantly creative and yet don't take a massive bank balance or a lot of resources to achieve -just some imagination and willingness to put in the hours.

So I loved discovering Xavier Barrade’s 3D posters for rock band Dry The River. Xavier spent over 35 hours creating each 3d poster, hand cutting all the pieces and gluing them together.

The finished result is an ad campaign that sticks out (ha!) from the rest. The video of people's reactions to the posters is great too.

DKNG - Design

I always get worried when I am producing my own design work that I am doing it wrong, taking influences from the wrong sources or overcomplicating the process. So when I found these videos from Los Angeles based design studio DKNG (it makes me sick too, where is my Los Angeles based design studio?) I was so pleased that I was actually designing pretty normally and although everyone has different processes it is always interesting to see how others work.

DKNG focus on the music and entertainment industries so their body of work is pretty amazing, have a look!

Travis Hopkins - Art Direction

This video created by Travis Hopkins for Buck 65 is comprised of over 60 fictional movie title cards which spell out the lyrics from the first verse of 'Superstars Don't Love'.

It works so brilliantly because the title design is spot on and the attention to detail is perfect. I particularly love the sequel titles for any line that repeats and the tracking at the beginning that took me right back to being a kid and having a VHS player

The first ever talking cover featuring Olivia Wilde for Glamour's Secrets Issue is kinda creeepy, but also pretty cool...it reminds me of that scene in Minority Report where Tom Cruise's character walks past billboards and adverts that speak directly to him (he later gets his eyes chopped out to stop it but we'll ignore that bit)

Karl Lagerfeld’s 'The Tale of a Fairy' Cruise 2012 Film

Karl Lagerfeld makes a short film “The Tale Of A Fairy” about the sort of crazy old ladies that are rich enough to buy stuff from his Chanel Cruise 2012 Line.

With some dubious acting from Amanda Harlech, Kristen McMenamy, Freja Beha, Bianca Balti, Baptiste Giabiconi, Brad Koening, Jake Davies, Mark Vanderloo, Oriol Elcacho, Sebastien Jondeau, Seth Kuhlmann and Anna Mouglalis, the film is beautifully shot and provides a glimpse into the world of the mega rich.

I can't get enough of 'lovely bloodflow' by Baths and it's absolutely amazing video directed by Young Replicant.

Papervore Coffe Table Shredder - Product Design

You would think that writing this blog would help me keep an nice online record of everything I am inspired by, tucked away neatly online and accessible only via the click of a button.

But this sadly is not the way it works, instead, every time I see something remotely interesting; a flyer with an interesting print quality, a sandwich wrapper with a perfect colour green, a magazine tear out of a dress with amazing feather detail (the list goes on) I hoard it. This leads to a very messy studio, full of 'inspiration boxes' and piles of magazine several years old.

I have had some of this stuff for years and the emotional attachment is too much!! However the solution might lie here in papervore coffee table which combines a hand cranked paper shredder with a unique coffee table design. All, I need to do is convince myself that if it is still in the room (albeit in shredded form) then it isn't lost for ever and I can still absorb it's inspirational powers...hmmmm.
