Three Cool Covers From Vogue Homme Japan, i-D Magazine & L’Officiel Paris For September 09

I just came across three covers for September I kinda liked so I thought I'd put them together in one post.


I love model Jana K's inventive hairstyle in this cover for L'Officiel Paris by Enrique Badulescu


Travis Hanson looks super bendy and super gay styled by Nicola Formichetti in nothing but Gareth Pugh boots for the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan shot by by Steven Klein.



Edward Enninful styled this cover for i-D magazine featuring some of the most beautiful black models around at the minute: Chanel Iman, Jourdan Dunn, Arlenis Sosa and Sessilee Lopez. The cover was shot by Emma Summerton. I know winking is the i-D trademark but they all look a bit like they're having a stroke...

I just found this from the latest issue of Interview magazine with Natalie Portman on the cover. How fitting is artist Kaws' trademark white glove when illustrating this article about the late Michael Jackson? I love it, it's perfect.

Massive Editorial For Velvet September 2009 Yulia Leontieva by Takay

Here are some of my favourite images from the epic September 09 editorial for Velvet magazine, which features Yulia Leontieva shot by Takay on the cover. It gets extra brownie points coz it also stars the gorgeous Josh Beech. I am also literally in love with the Dunk Hi Supremes made of cubes! You can see more here.

The Danish Design School At Copenhagen Fashion Week

Copenhagen Fashion Week takes place every February and August and is Northern Europe's largest fashion event. Here are some of my favourite looks from The Danish Design School. You can see more here. I also wanted to post some pics from the Designers Nest Award catwalk show which showcases particularly skilled and promising students work (kind of like the River Island Gold Award here in England) But I couldn't find any that were good enough quality. So for now, just enjoy these! The looks are obviously pretty inspired by major designers like Balmain and Jean Paul Gaultier but I'm loving them nevertheless.

Lady Gaga V Magazine 61

I am getting kinda fed up of reading about Lady Gaga and Kate Moss (who is on and in like every magazine this month) But I had to post this because I wouldn't be being true to myself If I didn't. Now I love fake tan and I love being orange, it is like my signature look.
But -She. Is. Orange.
Like SO orange, like crayon orange. she works it obviously, but I think I found her inspiration below.

Naomi Campbell in Wild Things For US Harper's Bazaar

Naomi Campbell is pretty impressive in “Wild Things”, a shoot for the September issue of US Harper's Bazaar.

Photographed Jean Paul Goude -who is most famous for his work with Grace Jones in the 80s- she manages to look perfectly at home amongst an elephant, a cheetah and even sat on top of a crocodile. I'm guessing there is a fair amount of digital trickery involved along the way, but the shoot manages not to look contrived at all and Campbell shines throughout. To be honest though, I would sit on a crocodile no problem to get access to some of the clothes she is wearing (and her pay packet).

Anja Rubik Dressed to Thrill For Vogue Germany September

The main editorial in this month’s Vogue Germany, stars Anja Rubik in “Dress to Thrill” by Alexi Lubomirski. The styling by Christiane Arp is beautifully luxurious and full of decadence, something I, personally love love love. In particular, the tights with the heart-shaped crotch caught my eye, how amazing are they? Tights need to be sexy and i think this pair do the job.

I am slightly worried by the random crackhead in the corner of some of the shots...I would say I have quite the penchant for a sexy tattooed gentleman (hello Josh Beech) however this guy looks a bit like he needs a good meal and has just snuck in to steal whats left of Anja's room service.

Kid Cudi and Augor For Complex August/September 2009

Kid Cudi and Los Angeles graffiti artist Augor have teamed up to create one side of the striking cover for Complex Magazine's August/September issue.






I always love the combination of photography and illustration and this shoot works really well. There is a behind the scenes video too which is pretty cool

Kate Moss for Just Cavalli Fall 2009

Just Cavalli’s latest Autumn-Winter campaign once again stars Kate Moss and another young model photographed by Mert and Marcus. I am loving the rich, berry tones and the lighting and Kate's face is never gonna look bad is it? But I don't really think the two models work together, Kate seems more mature and the whole thing weirds me out a bit. They just don't look like they would hang out in real life.

Linda Evangelista and Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia

I am biased because I love everything to do with the words 'Urban' and 'Decay' (note my email address) But this story from Vogue Italia, which happens to have that same name really is amazing. The lighting! The drama! It really reminds me of work from old school photographers George Hoyningen-Huene and Horst P Horst.
