This series from Canadian photographer Dina Goldstein entitled 'Fallen Princesses' aims to subvert the concept of the traditional fairytale story portrayed by Disney by placing some of their most well known princesses into real life situations.
In all of the images the princess is placed in an environment where happily ever after is replaced with a realistic outcome and each piece tries to address a current issue that may affect real women, such as illness, addiction and self-image issues.

This reminds me of a book called The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter, which is a collection of retold fairytales. Though these images are fantastic in demonstrating the sharp contrast between the happy endings we read as a child and how life is in reality. Inspiring.
